Strength and Firmness

Strength and Firmness

In the strength and firmness devo, I really enjoyed the line, “If Christ is the life, then this world is a constant, ongoing spiral of death.” Dang! I really desire to cling to the life but so often find myself forgetting about the life he offers and getting caught up in this world.  Even though this devo may sound dark with all the talk about death and grief, it was a bringer of joy in the reminder that “Through Christ the death trap becomes a love trap” and “Our moments are not empty by instead pregnant with Christ, the Logos, the eternal meaning that floods our dead hearts and dead moments with faith, hope, and love which remain… eternally.”

To me this devo felt so intense and pounding, and I loved the imagery put forth in the last line, how our moments are pregnant with Christ. Christ is here in our lives, calling out to us to join him and experience the deepest love there is possible in life, even though we are constantly feeling empty or grief for lost moments and the death of the past.
