"Our legacy as children of Adam is to flee from our creator. We flee mercy because mercy pierces our facades of self-promotion, self control, and power." Sometimes it’s hard acknowledging the fact we all live behind facades and even more so stripping those facades away from our lives. But the beauty of doing this is that we no longer have to live with the worldly expectations/ standards of keeping up the facades we choose to hide behind. Why? Because accepting mercy gifts us with the invitation to experience freedom. Because of grace we can begin again.
“Apart from me, you can do nothing.”
The simplest way to paraphrase this is that we are called to live in a relationship with Him. I think it can be pretty easy gaining a reputation for being alive in Christ by doing the things that associate with life in Jesus…but apart from Him, we are apart from intimacy from Him. Cut off from the vine, we will never have authentic life. But the death of our life or our broken/ cut off branch is not final!!! Because of grace we can begin again.
