March 23: GENUINE LOVE OF CHRIST
Do I give off the smell of life? Who smells me? People always notice you, whether they're your close friends or just someone at the grocery store. With every interaction, we should be giving off the smell of life.
This passage reminds me of 2 Corinthians 5:20. "20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
March 24: SINCERE LOVE FOR PEOPLE
Draw out the best in others, not their faults. Everyone sins and nobody can be perfect. It sounds simple just to say, "Love others", but its not easy always. Its hard loving people that have drastically different opinions than you. Its easy to love certain people, but hard to love all people.
MARCH 25TH : HUMILITY
Paul gives us a clear definition of humility: "To be humble is to listen to the input and critique of others and sincerely factor their input despite feeling that your conscience is clear."
This definition says that humility is hearing other peoples input and taking that into account. I always thought humility was to not brag. But this expands that definition in a clear way. I liked the last sentence of the devotional, "humility enhances one's leadership effect." A good leader is humble. A good leader will listen to criticism and take it into account and adapt.
MARCH 26TH : SACRIFICE
Serve others. Jesus served others constantly. Most common example was washing his disciples feet.
MARCH 27TH : LOYALTY AND COMMITMENT
Be loyal to those who you chose to surround yourself with. Invest in your friends, not just for entertainment, but to be loyal. Being loyal to someone includes humility, sacrifice, and having a servant attitude. This applies to my close friend group. I've grown up with these 6 guys since elementary school and they amount of loyalty in that group is insane. We hold each other responsible to going to church and youth group, keeping up with bible reading plans, and just being there for one another.
