This culture point line has been echoing through my head this whole week: (paraphrased) The more you take others seriously the less you take yourself seriously.
I can selfishly get caught in the act of focusing on only what happening in my own life, which leads to a point of anxiety and taking myself too seriously. The reminder to be sensitive to others has popped my bubble and clarified that the gospel is for US not ME.
This week's devos have also served as a reminder that the more I grow in my relationship with Christ, the more I realize I need him. He's really been making my pride known to me and has painfully been humbling me.
I also LOVED the last lines in May 2nd's devo on modesty:
"May the love of Christ be the inner garment of our heart. May a sincere love for people be our outer wares. May adornments of humility, sacrifice, and loyalty cloak our being. May the fragrance of passion, strength, discipline, and sensitivity exude from within us."
It paints a beautiful picture of what we should hold central in our lives. All things stem from a love for Christ.
