I can do all things

Alright, so recently I have been watching the movie, Soul Surfer, on repeat. Like once it ends, I'll start it up again. Kind of a problem, but who cares. Anyways, the reason why I've been so obsessed with this movie for the past couple of days is because of how much an inspiration Bethany Hamilton is. For those that don't know Soul Surfer is based on a true story movie about the life of professional surfer, Bethany Hamilton, who survived a shark attack when she was 13 years old. The shark had bitten off her left arm which inevitably changed her surfing career. Although it was challenging to reinvent her surfing techniques, her reliance on God and determination on not to give up, she was able to figure it out and end up being one of the most famous professional surfers.

The reason why I've been so obsessed with this movie is a lesson that her youth leader taught at a youth event. Now instead of me explaining what was the lesson, I think y'all should see it for yourself.

What I really love about this lesson is that it is a perfect example of how we need to trust God. He knows the grand scheme of our lives while we only know the part we are living right now. For Bethany Hamilton it was hard for her to grasp this concept after her attack. Surfing, to her, was her entire life and the thought of her not being able to chase her dream scared her. However, she relied on Him to get through it and make things possible.

This is such a great take away from the film because it really teaches us about trusting in God and Bethany's story is a great example of that. She trusted in Him during a difficult time in her life and in the end He used her traumatic experience to make what seemed to be impossible possible. Not only that, but a great way to share the Gospel with other people.
